Our Visit from Mr. Ruijun Qin of China
Francisco and Takashi
The morning started normally until our teacher announced that Ruijun Qin was coming to tell us about his homeland of China. We were very excited! When he arrived Mr. Qin told us all about his country and shared many photos of his family, Chinese buildings and temples, and the famous Yellow and Yangtze River. Did you know thnt the country of China looks like a rooster when you look at it on the map? We asked him lots of questions like: Do you have fast food restaurants in China? Are you related to Emperor Qin? What kind of cars do you have in China? One thing we will always remember is the the song he sang for us. His voice was beautiful and amazingly very soothing. It was a great visit from our new Chinese friend! WATCH THE VIDEO ABOVE AND HEAR OUR VISITOR SING TO US!

The Chinese Abacus
Tai and Aron
Can you imagine counting without using numbers? An abacus is a very old counting device. The first abacus was made in China from sticks and beads. We are learning about this Chinese invention and have seen some pretty amazing videos showing Asian students using this tool. They were super fast because they've practiced many hours and are abacus masters. JUST WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW and see for yourself. If you want to learn more about this amazing device, please come to see our abacus reports at the next Museum Night!
